Is life getting in the way of my plans again? It has been too long since my last post. Must be working too hard or something. Time for more ramblings
I am wondering about a comment on packaging. As in, do we pack an item up in too much stuff?
I opened a box to find 4 smaller boxes. I select a smaller box and open it up and yes, more smaller boxes inside. Okay, I get one of those and it is shrinked wrapped. I peel off the plactic and the CD is in yet another box. My trash can is near full with this debris. The CD is for work, its really a platter, which is a plastic box like device protecting the actual CD inside. One of those write once read many type of media. So after 15 minutes I actualy have the item of my search. It approximate value about 50 bucks. I wonder how much of the cost went into packing this thing ?
I think there must be a whole industry of nothing but engineers designing packaging. Maybe I should look into that for my next job. I mean talk about job security. All the time spent on packing and unpacking. The materials for card board and plastic. I wonder if they can outsource that ? Crap, I just read some of the discards in my trash can. Made in Japan. Okay that answers that question.
I guess sanitation engineer might have a bit more job security.
